Go Green Fitness Converts Cycling Workouts into Clean and Renewable Energy
Orange, Connecticut (PRWEB) -- Using patent-pending technology developed by a Connecticut company, The Green Revolution Inc., the power generated from human exercise helps to make the environment cleaner and greener while promoting a healthy lifestyle. GO GREEN FITNESS is the first of its kind to convert human energy from indoor cycling workouts into clean and renewable energy.
A Press Conference showcasing GO GREEN FITNESS and its “human energy” fitness technology will be held at GO GREEN FITNESS, at 500 Boston Post Road, Orange, CT on December 8th at 10:00am. A tour of the facility and a demonstration of what makes this new technology truly “green” will take place before and after a group cycling class being held at 11:00am. Members of the press are welcome to participate in the class.
A typical group cycling class with about 20 bikes has the potential to produce up to 3.6 Megawatts (3,600,000 Watts) of renewable energy per year. This is equivalent to the amount of power used to light 72 homes for a month while also reducing carbon emissions by over 5,000 pounds. The entire group cycling studio, comprised of 24 indoor cycles, is connected to the studio’s electrical grid through an inverter, so that human electricity can be used to power all aspects of the facility. This maximization of electricity helps reduce carbon emissions and lowers the community’s demand for fossil fuel-based energy. Any excess electricity generated from the club has the potential to return to the power grid for other energy use in the community. All cycling participants will be able to control and monitor their individual renewable energy output through a resistance control panel attached to the bicycle, and GO GREEN FITNESS will be able to track the total energy that is produced through exercise on the GO GREEN FITNESS web site.

Jay Whelan, founder and president of The Green Revolution Inc., is a Ridgefield resident and the 2008 recipient of Connecticut’s “Climate Change Leadership Award.” Mr. Whalen praises GO GREEN FITNESS for its unwavering commitment to environmental principles:
“GO GREEN FITNESS is to be commended for being a role model for the environment and being the first Connecticut business to launch this exciting and innovative technology. Robert Kravitz built GO GREEN FITNESS with passion and conviction. His tunnel vision has been amazing, and I think he’s accomplished his goal.”
Robert Kravitz, the owner of GO GREEN FITNESS, is a proven leader of the green building movement as one of the first to pursue the application of energy efficiencies to business. In 2002, as a partner in the Go Green Plaza in Orange, CT, Mr. Kravitz registered the 12,000 square foot project with the United States Green Building Council, the very first commercial green project in the State of Connecticut. He said he wanted to try for green building techniques because it “made sense.”
Mr. Kravitz has had a life long dedication to health and fitness and decided to support The Green Revolution Inc. technology because it enables GO GREEN FITNESS to further the green movement by connecting fitness to the environment:
“The GO GREEN FITNESS project has been exhilarating because it directly links all the things that are meaningful to me: my love for the environment and an awareness of health and well being. We’re offering an exciting new program in which fitness enthusiasts who are environmentally conscious now have an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the environment by energizing their workouts! It makes sense for us to try and make a difference in contributing to a cleaner community and a healthier planet.”
“GO GREEN FITNESS is truly a unique experience, an honest attempt to involve people in the process of creating clean and renewable energy from human activity. This will result in helping to create a sustainable behavioral change, and a healthier lifestyle. As a group, we can make a difference by raising environmental awareness. My hope is that everyone who participates will be rewarded physically, emotionally and spiritually. And, by the way, it’s a whole lot of fun!”
